IN A SESSION WITH Rune Søgaard

Hans Zimmer for the cinematic sessions. But as a former DJ, I think in transitions more than tracks — the right song at the right moment is everything.
Calm on the outside. Intense on the inside. I don't perform. I don't hype the room with words. The energy comes through the music, the heat and the movement of the towel — and by the time the third round begins, you feel it without me saying a word. I've been meditating for six years. That practice doesn't disappear when I step into the sauna room — it's the foundation of how I hold the space. People feel safe because I'm steady. And when I push the heat, they go with it because they trust what's been built. As a former DJ I know how to read a room. I know when to hold back and when to let it go. The energy in my sessions isn't fixed — it responds to the people who are there that day. What you'll feel when you walk in is focus. Intention. A room that's been prepared for you. And when the first notes hit, something shifts. That's the energy I bring.
Most saunagus sessions are a nice experience. Mine are a production. Before I walk into the room, I've already spent hours on the music. Not choosing tracks — mixing them. Building transitions, matching energy to heat, designing a specific arc for that specific theme. I come from DJ culture where preparation is everything and the room can feel the difference between someone who cares and someone who doesn't. The meditation layer is the other thing people don't expect. Before the heat, there's stillness. A real moment to arrive, to land, to leave whatever you walked in with at the door. That's not decoration — it's the foundation the whole session is built on. And then there's the temperature. I run Extra Hot when the session calls for it. Not to prove something — because some experiences only open at a certain heat. I prepare guests for it, I watch the room, and I bring them through it safely. What you won't find in my sessions is filler. Every round has a purpose. Every oil was chosen. Every transition was planned. Nothing is random. People come back not just because it felt good — but because it felt like something.
People who want more than warmth. If you come to a sauna looking for a quiet soak and a light sweat, my sessions will give you something you didn't plan for. That's not a warning — it's an invitation. But you should know what you're walking into. My sessions are best suited for people who are open to being moved. By music. By heat. By a moment of stillness they didn't know they needed. You don't have to be spiritual, you don't have to be a sauna veteran — you just have to be willing to show up fully.
Reset. Light. Quietly proud. Most guests walk out saying very little — not because they have nothing to say, but because they're not ready to leave the feeling yet.
The people. Always the people. The temperature and the music take care of themselves — my attention is on the room, the breathing, and making sure everyone crosses the threshold together.
6 years of Guided meditation. 3 years of Breathwork.
Processing. The cold bath, the meditation, fitness, sauna, breathwork, the morning walk. Recovery is the infrastructure that makes everything else possible, and I treat it that way.
CEO of Run Group — international lighting brands (Lumega, Aluxia, Luxega) across Northern Europe, plus a business that helps entrepreneurs bring physical products to market. The sauna keeps me sharp enough to run all of it.
5AM. Every morning. Meditation first — connecting to the energy around me, grateful for another day, thanking God for being here. Six years without missing it. Then cold water. Then the day can begin. Before every session, the same thing. Arrive early. Set the room. Go through the music alone one last time. Be ready before it starts.
